Neurodiversity Trainings

For parent or school audiences

Sarah has spent the better part of the last decade working to support teachers as well as students. Particularly since the COVID-19 shutdown, students have displayed the need for increased support with written language skills like reading, spelling, and written expression.

To best serve students, faculty members and administrators must understand how the brain works, how various types of neurodiversity manifest, and how they can “read the clues” and provide appropriate next steps.

Sarah has provided training on myriad topics, including but not limited to the following:

  • fine motor skills and handwriting development
  • supporting early pre-reading skills
  • identifying and designing appropriate support for struggling readers
  • supporting the development of reading fluency
  • supporting written expression in students with other learning differences
  • supporting ADHD students in the classroom
  • incorporating best practices in vocabulary instruction
  • continuing to use multisensory instruction in middle and upper grades

Sarah can provide group training and consultative small group meetings with your entire faculty, smaller departmental or grade-level teacher groups, or administrative groups. This service can be paired with Orton-Gillingham teacher training or provided a la carte.
